Reflexology

Although it is known that variations of Reflexology were used in ancient Egypt, China, Japan and by American Indians, modern Reflexology was introduced in it’s earliest form by Dr William Fitzgerald, an American ear, nose and throat specialist. In 1913, he discovered that by applying pressure to certain parts of the body he could relieve pain in other parts and by mapping the body into vertical lines he developed, what became known as, ‘Zone Therapy’.

In the 1930’s Eunice Ingham, a therapist, further developed and refined the zonal theory into what became known as foot Reflexology by painstakingly mapping the feet and the areas in the body to which they correspond.

Reflexology uses hands only to apply gentle pressure to the feet to detect tiny deposits and tensions and help restore the free flow of energy to the whole system and to encourage the body to heal itself at its own pace.

Reflexology is suitable for all ages and may bring relief from a wide range of acute and chronic conditions. A course of treatments can also be followed up by maintenance treatments in order to maintain health and wellbeing. Reflexology has been shown to be an effective treatment for:
